I have all of mine on digital camera downloaded to a file on my 'puter. Two or three pic's of each. I try to get a closeup of each where you can see the manufacturer, model and chambering and then another with the serial number visible. I'm not a great photographer, but next time I'll take more time and really try to get better pictures. Each is listed on a document along with serial number and a description of condition. I also have a field on the table to describe where, how, how much I paid for it or how I got it. My insurance company has a list of all items over $500 for a special rider on my policy. Next time I go back stateside, I will have EVERYTHING to include all scopes, slings, accessories on the list. Everything left in the US is in a Browning Medallion Wide safe that weighs about 1K pounds and is in a closet in the in-laws garage. The closet isn't for security but to keep the safe out of view and to keep it from getting scratched by tools and junk that accumulates in their garage. I have too much to worry about losing a bunch of gun cases, dies, ammo, scopes, slings etc to some miscreant or a fire. Stuff here in Germany is on the list too but I don't worry about losing it too much. By law guns have to be in a gun safe, so I bought a cheap one (like the one's at Wal-Mart) that holds five guns. We live on post in an apartment on the fourth floor. I only worry about all the documentation that I have to carry when I have the guns in the car or on me while traveling or hunting. I'm always nervous about coming on and off base and getting screwed with by some young MP that doesn't know the rules... a buddy of mine ended up face down on the road with silver bracelets with his $3K Blaser in the dirt and gravel because he was reported for hunting legally in our training area. He had all the documentation but the MP's just wanted to be jerks and treat him like that instead of being respectful and courteous. I mean all they had to do was run his plates on his Jeep, the registration shows that he also owns guns and has a hunting license. They know we hunt there legally but evidently the "Army Strong" is really "Army Stupid" and they can't put two and two together without busting on some poor guy having a good time.
