EAA 10 MM hanguns?

Anyone have any experience with the fullsize eaa 10mm handguns? I am interested in a 10mm for deer hunting and the witness and witness elite look interesting. Do not have the cash for a hunter model. Just looking for general opinions. Are they reliable, prone to any problems, things of that nature. Also see that in their manual they are not recommended for +P ammo, isn't all 10mm ammo plus P? Also does anyone know if the 6" 10mm barrel they sell as a part would be able to be fitted on either of these guns. Lasly, are the witness elite pistols caliber interchangeable or not? I don't have any first hand experience with the EAA pistols but I do know that they are based on the well proven CZ design.  From what I hear they are well made and generally very accurate.   I was very tempted by used one I had found in a LGS that had a compensator and trigger work done to it but I didn't have the scratch for it.  It felt great in my hand and pointed well, better than a 1911 I thought which most people say is one of the best pointing combat guns.

My only EAA auto was a 9mm compact. It functioned flawlessly with every load tried including some low recoil handloads. It was accurate and reliable and fit my hand very well. I liked everything about it except being a steel frame it was rather heavy for a 9mm compact. I think they build a good gun so you should be happy with the 10mm. Mine was the "bastard" model which could be carried hammer down or cocked and locked. I like that option and don't care at all for a hammer drop safety, way too noisy for hunting.

Have had three. Like them all very well. 10mm has been loaded down by the factories,so I guess plus p is what ever the loading books recomend as top end loads. heard some folks have frame cracking issues, I never have. I load pretty hot for this caliber. Good Idea to change the springs for the slide,to slightly slow the slide speed down. Also mine ejects empties into the next county. Get one , you'll love it

There must have been a half dozen threads on these pistols in the last year. My opinion of them remains the same after nearly 10 years of owning Tanfoglio pistols:
They may just be the best value out there for the buck! Great ergonomics, maybe the best available, and I'm a 1911 and Hi Power guy! My 10mm and .45 Tanfoglio pistols are great! My 9mm is the most accurate 9mm pistol I own. These all steel, fullsize, pistols are a little large and heavy for concealed carry, but great in a good holster and belt. I can't find any reason NOT to recommend them.
Mauser98us, If you'll shorten the ejector a little on your 10mm, your brass will land within walking distance of your shooting point. LOL

I don't have 10mm experience. However, I have a full-size Witness in 45ACP and a compact in 40S&W with a 45ACP conversion. Both(all three) are steel, Wonder finish.
The only problem that I have had was with an after market magazine for the 40. With a little lip adjustment that was solved. All three
function flawlessly. IMHO you can spend much more and get much less.

They sound like good guns. Does anyone know if the witness match single action only are caliber convertable as well, like the standard model? Also, must the single action only be carried cocked and locked?  Or can it be carried hammer down safety on?

The single action is designed to be carried "Cocked & Locked". The standard DA/SA can also be carried hammer down on a loaded chamber by manually decocking the piece. The first shot is then DA and subsequent shots SA.

 I had at one time a S&W ,glock and AMT longslide.[let that one go DARN]
 I now have a Custom 1911 and a DW C-BOB.
 Other than ammo cost the 10mm is one fine round-shoots flat and hits hard.
 For ammo target load from Georgia Arms, hunting from DoubleTap or Corbon..
 You might look at KUDU ammo [I have some and they look good, need more shooting]
 The only thing about the CZ is that the frames seem to get beat up faster ,go to their
 forum for info on springs.....
 I also would say that if your in the $1400 range that Fusion Arms makes a custom
 long slide 10 mm 1911 that is something else!!!!!!!!!!

I had a EEA in 45 ACP, 10mm and now in 38 Super.  The 38 Super is the best in my hmo.  The problem with the rame being beat up is Tangolio not using a heavy enough spring.  I got a heaveir spring at ole and although heavy to slide back, the empties all at your side and the rame isn't beat up.  Had I known this when I had the 45 ACP and the 10mm I would still have them!
