If you have a 94 with the ugly crossbar safety, you might want to try this simple improvement.
So here is what I did, I removed the ugly hammerstop. This is easy, it only takes paperclip to push down the retainer. You can see it when the rifle is fully cocked under a light. After I removed it, I decided to try a little modification. The worst part of the hammerstop is that stupid red flag sticking ot when the safety is off and how easy it is to accidentaly put on safety.
I took a dremel and cut about 1/8 inch off of the red end of the hammer stop bar, saving the end. Next I cut off all of the remaining red portion of the bar and a bit more to make the bar the same width as the receiver minus the right side recess. After that I silver soldered the end back on. The saftey still works now but does not stick out when ready to fire. When in the fire position the bar is flush with both sides of the rifle. Although there is still a recess in the right side of the receiver, this is a HUGE improvement in the 94.
