Drop Away Rest
« on: June 22, 2010, 07:13:26 PM »
I have been using a whisker biscuit rest...but I am thinking of going to a drop away.  My buddy just installed a rip cord on his bow, but I find the g5 expert line an interesting design.  Any thoughts or opinions or these?

I have used a biscuit and loved it. I went to a rip cord because my new DXT was a bear to tune with the biscuit, too tight of tolerances. Yes many use a biscuit on the DXT and are successful, not me. A DXT with a biscuit and blazer vanes I could not make work, and got frustrated and went to the rip cord. I really do like the rip cord, never had a problem, and it works flawlessly. I was using the biscuit on a Jennings Grandmaster and stuck the biggest buck I have ever shot. The DXT shelf hit my vanes every time with a biscuit and blazers no matter how I turned the vanes.

I switched from the good ol' whiskey biskey to a ripcord last fall. I really like it. A buddy has one as well and really likes his. Another buddy has a QAD at it is a great drop away too. One thing I like better about the QAD is that the arm that holds the arrow stays up when you let the bow down, and on the ripcord the arm goes down.

I also used the whisker biscuit for many years and last year I put a QAD HD on my DXT.....one of the best changes I did yet! I've read many good reports from the Ripcord Code Red drop away too. I've been thinking about putting the ripcord on an older Mathews MQ1 that I have.
It's about $50 cheaper than the QAD HD.

Buy it on ebay and you can get it even cheaper. I got my ripcord brand new on ebay for like $53 shipped. My buddy that has a QAD got his the same way for around $70 if I remember right.

Another nice drop away for a good price is the NAP Apache. I shot a Hoyt Maxxis 31 with an Apache rest and I liked it alot. They're only around $55.
