Hello Ben,
What you see is a newly formed forum, literally only a few days old. I don't think it is any exaggeration to say that Graybeard has not been the number one stop in times past for inline muzzleloading enthusiasts. In fact, like many, many other such forums on the net-- you know the ones-- there just hasn't been much going on, and folks don't get their questions answered quickly. So, there are very few active discussions generated, and people naturally go where the action is perceived to be.
Savage users have been driven from inline forums, rather than endure snide remarks.
Long range enthusiasts have been driven away, if for no other reason than people don't hunt the way they do.
Conical shooters have been driven into a somewhat cliquish bunch for the same reasons.
Powder / bullet / scope choice / rifle choices often end up being vitriolically defended-- for no other reason than that is what people just happen to own or use.
The fact is, there are any number of excellent rifles, powders and projectiles that will do an exemplary job on a whitetail looking at you at 100 yards. Some are better in certain ways than others, all can be improved, but when the fur hits the dirt (or bullseye)-- the only person you need to please is yourself.
Right now, there are more and better choices for muzzleloaders than ever before-- with more on the way. That's the fun part!
