I'm thinking of having a 5 shot 480 built on a Vaquero.I did a search and saw that Hud has one built on a Blackhawk.I have a N.M. Vaquero in 45,but I would like to have something different in the stronger Vaquero.Any of you guys have any thoughts on the 480 in the Vaquero.

the vaquero would be comfortable to shoot right up till a guy shot top end loads. For them a bisley would do a bit better. Ive always said that if ruger made a 4 5/8s bisley vaquero in 480 id buy 5 of them. The 480 is one of the most versitile and effecient rounds made. It can be loaded down to almost 44 special recoil levels and with a 400 grain lfn at 1100-1200 fps it will kill anything anywhere! I ususally run my 475s right in that ballpark anyway.

I agree with Lloyd; I intend to have one built when I return to the States. In the meantime, go to the Ruger website and 'tell the CEO' about it; maybe if they get enough requests, they'll resurrect the cartridge.

I have 3 480 and love them. I have all Da's so I don't need an SA built. I would go with the Bisley gripframe as well. I do wish they would make the chambering again and make the ammo/brass a bit cheaper. J.Michael
