Got some ?'s about a Voere (Austrian) 30-'06 rifle
« on: May 24, 2010, 05:25:53 PM »
I have a opportunity to trade a Remington 700 SPS Tactical .308 for a Voere 2165 30-06. Seems to be a very beautiful gun from the pictures the owner has sent me, but I know very little about Voere. After some internet searching I am liking it even more. I am hoping some fellow memebers here own or have shot one to give me some info on their experience, and if you feel this would be a decent trade.

Voere of Austria has been a major manufacturer of proprietary design & Mauser 98-pattern boltguns for many/many years - They've always made an excellent quality rifle.

Granite Arms in the current US importer:

The 2165 is basically the proven Mauser 98

+1  Rangr44 has it right.  Like most Europeans made rifles, Voere rifles are built to last for generations and serve their owners very well. I saw several of them when I was stationed in Germany and their owners weren't trading them anytime soon.

Voere also built the rifle for Kleingunther out of Texas back in the 1970's and 1980's. Beleive he marketed them as the Kleingunther K-15 Insta- Fire. .

I have one that was imported in the 60's in 7x57 Mauser.  It has a beautiful classic stock, express sights and will put three rounds into less that an inch...till the thin bbl heats up!  LOL

I have been offered $$$$ for it, but it is going to my granddaughter when I step off this old coil!  My son is green with envy!

In 1970 I was on my honeymoon in Reno, Nv.  over in Sparks a wholesaler was going out of business, he had stacks of Voeres new in the boxes, any caliber you wanted for $98. I bought a .22 Benjamin air pistol for $12 (still have it) all I could afford.  Such is life.
