Winged Sight on Marlin 1894. Light issues?
« on: March 01, 2013, 08:53:32 AM »

I notice that there is a winged version of he sight for the Marlin.  The wings look like they would give great protection to the apeture.

But, I just wonder if they are going to reduce the light coming into the peep so much, that you would lose an hour of daylight in the morning and evening.  Does anybody have any experience with this issue?

Thanks, Mannyrock

Not that anyone would notice.  Remember, almost every battle rifle made in the last 100 years has included an aperture sight and many of them have had wings.  (ie: the M-16 / AR-15)

No worries...  Install the sight, shoot it, sight it in, then forget about it.  Just look through the hole and ignore the rear sight completely...  Focus on front sight alignment with target, breath control and trigger squeeze.

Hope that helps,
