Took the .223 Edge to the range today

Had a couple of days off and managed to sqeeze in a couple hours of shooting at the Sugar Ridge F&W rifle range. I was the only one there for the first hour and it was cool and calm, a great day to be shooting. I took my new Savage Edge .223, a Savage 93XP .22 Mag and my H&R .357 Maxi.
This is the groups at 100 yards on the left and 200 yards on the right target
1. top left -- 45 gr Rem hp
2. top right-- 50 gr Rem hp
3. bottom left - Hornady V-max 55 gr
4. bottom right-- golden Bear 62 gr hp($6.79 box of 20)

second target on right at 200
1. bottom left 55 gr V-max - aimed at center red dot- 1 of them is below target 2 are in lower left
2. 3 in lower center 62 gr Golden Bear hp - aimed at center red dot.
3. three shots around center were 62 gr GB hp - aimed at top of diamond.

all in all not bad for out of the box new gun with a heavy trigger.

Not the Edge but I have two Stevens 200, they have the stiff trigger problem too, the one needed trigger work the other was OK, I stopped into the Gun shop last week, He had a target from the Edge with the Package Scope, It had very impressive groups at 100 yards, I think it was in 243. The Edge is going to be a hard rifle to beat, for price and out of the box Accuracy.

I think after you get the trigger tuned up things will get a lot better.  This is from my Savage 10 in 17 Remington, 100 yards and the first 5 shots of the day.  These rifles can do very well when you get them totally sorted out.  Larry

Got to shoot my new Edge 223 at 100 yards finally, 3 shots covered by a dime with Ultramax ammo, not sure weight of bullet, not marked on box? Also, picked un my Edge 7-08, had 3 shots touching at 50 yards. Triggers are , well, good, but too much weight, 8-9 pouinds???With trigger work, these will be hard to beat, feel  and handle better than my Savage 110 243............

Look at that Golden Bear group for less than $7/box! Now that is news, that kind of accuracy for what a lot of folks call junk ammo! If that is junk, bring it on!

If the riflwe shoots that good with the so called junk just think what it would do after working uo a good reload? I love both of my savages my 6BR will out shoot all of them I own. lou

I am extremely pleased that it shoots that good with the cheap ammo. I tried them in my 1-12 Handi and they were ok but not the best.  This gun shows a preferance for the 55-62 grainers. I don't have the dies for .223 yet but I may invest in them later. I worked the trigger over after I shot those groups and it is probably 4-5 pounds now, it was 8-9 before. I haven't had time to shoot it yet tho.

The XP comes with a scope.

First 3 groups from 50 yds right out of the box(bore cleaned of course). 55gr Hornady, 26grs H-335, smooth gun, trigger could be better but have shot a lot worse. I like the gun and for the price it is a keeper. The 100yd group opened just a tad then it got windy, going back next week for more. I did use a mechanical rest and shot 1 group at just an inch but that is cheatin.
