Friend and helper
« on: June 24, 2010, 06:09:01 PM »
Recieved an email today, that a very good friend of mine died this morning. Larry Harris was his name. Battled cancer in the eye for probably 2 years, and found out it spread to his liver last week.
Larry was a Vietnam vet, who had 2 river boats shot out from under him, and use to laugh about having been in 'Nam something like 130+ days, there was only one day he wasn't shot at.
He shot in IHMSA compitition up thru last month. A very good shot, and somewhat of a bragger, he was the first guy to shake your hand if you ever beat him, and congradulate you.
If you ever been to a few of the gun shows here in Ohio,Lima,OGCA,Dayton or Columbus, he might very well be the guy behind my tables helping me out.
Larry, Rest In Peace my friend. Bill Boros-gypsyman

Went to Larry's funeral today, and met his brother's. We had a fine talk about Larry. Seems that Larry didn't want his folks or family to worry about him, when he was in the Navy. He was suppose to be at a class for nuclear sub training in Conn., but missed the class by a few days.So the Navy shipped him to 'Nam. He told his parents and family, that he was being shipped to San Diego for some training, and made out post cards, and had a friend send them out every couple weeks. Both his parents died, never knowing he had spent time in 'Nam. Or had earned a purple heart, when one of the river boats was hit by mortar fire. It was only in the last couple years that his brothers had learned of his time there, when his younger brother seen his medals and purple heart in a case at his house. RIP Larry  gypsyman

Sorry to hear about Your friend's passing.

I've been on the road for 2 months, and missed quite a few posts.
