whosayin obawma is a left wing socialist puke usurper POS. I firmly believe that any freakin body that is going to sit in the nations capitol, should have first sat on a bunk spit shinning boots. obama couldn't run a squad of cub scouts let alone a squad of infantry. He isn't fit to serve let alone have anything to do with veterans affairs. Him and hanoi jane fonda should share the same fate of death from fire. America hating pukes.  >:(

..And he didn't just raise it a "little bit", prescriptions will now cost 300% what they formerly were. Veteran or not, when the govt raises it's fee to citizens to 300% what it formerly was, that is a huge tax increase; and I for one, do no make over $250K.

Yes I got that letter. I fear that it is only the begining of sorrows for we vets. Since the va is already government run health care I think that the powers that be will simply roll us into slobama care in the near future. It won't make since for them to have two government agencies doing the same thing. I also get asked each time I go if I am ptsd. I tell them no. I think they want a way to take away my guns. I also think they want to use my weight and bad habbits as an excuse to deny me health care because they will say my conditions are lifestyle choices. I think they will do this to everyone in slobama care. Heard on the news yesterday insurance co. Will have to provide free screenings for certain conditions like high blood pressure which will be compiled into the new data base slobama is requiring doctors and hospitals to create in the next couple years. A data base like the va already has. Freedom is slipping away fast.

  We as vets must never forget, BHO's first brainstorm was to have wounded vets buy their own private health care plans and have their wounds and lost limbs treated by private healthcare. When he got dumped upon by every decent person with a functioning conscience, he backed down..unwillingly.
  So I suppose we should have expected some kind of rip off for vets....since he has no such experience !

I always love driving an hour and a half for my yearly check-ups to go see my affirmative action appointed doctor go on about how I should be an anorexic stick figure like her and take a gram of motrin a day even though it'll damage my kidneys longterm.  I say no, drive home, lay down in agony and throw up a bunch because my eyes are acting up from being on the road.  I should take MOTRIN to burn out my liver and SLIGHTLY alleviate a myriad of inflammatory issues but god forbid I get opiates that will NOT damage me physically to use as needed.  Nevermind that the navy gave me percocet like candy to shut me up and keep me on active duty for three years, as a vet/civilian I'll turn into a drug addict.  Med Schools have to give preference for openings/enrollment to women/minorities/foreigners- 51% have to be other than white male!!!  So when I have a jewish woman that is about 5'8'' and MAYBE 120lbs tell me I'm overweight and go off on her tyrade every year it makes me sick.  Nevermind that I'm suffering from eye, back, hip, knee foot, sciatic nerve, and hand problems- problems that need treatment- I get to listen to a bunch of bs from a sickly person about how I should be chinese looking like THAT's gonna make me healthy.  Nevermind that I want surgery (corrective for my botched knee fix and never done hip replacement) and painkillers, I should just get scrawny and then my left leg will work good enough to get me around.

Sadly the VA is better than the active duty healthcare in my experience.

Speaking of Obama... what in the world is his problem?  Why us and not welfare bums, why slash OUR benefits?  Is it because we vote conservative anyways so we're a lost cause to progressives?

Maybe no "New" Taxes but old ones will be reinstated and lots of new "User Fees" and required purchases.

We pay for a lot more government than than we want.  But, it could be worse.
 we could get all the Government we pay for instead of having most of it wasted.

$8 to $24..??  Did $8 cover the wholesale cost of the drugs?  Does $24 now cover the wholesale cost of the drugs..??
 Since we live in a kind of 'capitalist' system, and you don't like big government interfering and meddling with things, why don't you appeal directly to the Big Pharma corps to underwrite your drugs?? Or demand that J. McCain intercede and appeal to Big Pharma.

BTW,,,are you confusing co-payments with taxes..??

...TM7
.
[/quote

  Wouldn't do any good to appeal to "big pharma", since they are in bed with BHO now...part of the payoff for not fighting Obamacare.

   As far as the prescriptions being $8...just up from $7, is the amount of increase . Today forward..3 times what it formerly cost . Now, you and I know there are millions of "freeloaders" who are burdening the system..who get their prescriptions free...many of them not even citizens.
   I speak of fairness here ...so freeloaders can get free meds, the honorably-served veterans will pay 3X as much, or don't you think the govt should keep it's promises to veterans ? Aren't veterans worth it ?

The double kick in the butt came last January for SS recipients. No increase in SS checks because INFLATION is zero. Prices are not going up, so no increase. No increase in SS checks equals a tax increase because every stinking thing I buy has gone up in price, yet the GOV insists there is no inflation.
They must think we are stupid.

As a vet myself, I do feel deeply what you're going through. Unfortunately, less Americans are applying to med school, probably because of the Obama plan. And we may be forced to deal with foreign Dr's and PA's, though I've met some pretty darn good PA's. Some are light years better than Dr's.

TM;
  I don't recallposting anything about "big pharma"  (liberal's nickname for it) but that seems to be the way it worked out. The big drug companies originally did start to fight against BHO's socialized medicine plan...but after a being called in for a secret conference with BHO, they were suddenly "on board" with his plan.
   Was that deal possibly part of the reason for the sudden uptick in RX prices to vets ? I wonder if we will see an uptick in costs to all who pay in full or part, for their own prescriptions. A deal like that would certainly allow "The Joker" to get free RX to all his favored groups .

    Just another way to "spread the wealth around"....

  ...Aint it a hoot...how limousine liberals enjoy "spreading the wealth around"....your wealth and my wealth...never theirs !

  Squib;
   Sadly, you may be right in most cases, close relatives on active duty have had far from positive experiences with their.. Tri-care, I believe it is called.

After a massive heart attack at 53 resulting in a triple bypass, one year later to the day all grafts were already blocked. My private doctors couldn't understand why and refered my case to Barns Jewish in St. Louis. They determined that due to my Agent Orange, and other toxic chemical exsposure, that my lipids stayed highly elevated. Another bypass wouldn't work. Stents were too dangerous to even try. They put me on very high doses of a Statin cholesterol med, plus Plavix, a 24 hour nitroglycerin, a triglyceride pill and heart rehab therapy. The VA refused to pay for my operation though it was a matter of life or death that I was rushed by ambulance to the nearest hospital. That stuck me with a $65,000 bill. Then, because I didn't have stents they refused to even cover my meds. They said if I brought in a statement from my private cardiologist that they'd do so. Took them six months to even give me an apointment. Then the doctor refused to even read the report. He called in their cardiologist who took one look at me and told me I didn't have a heart problem and didn't need the meds. Not only that but I should stop taking the ones I'd been paying for out of pocket cold turkey. My private cardiologist said I'd have been dead in a week! When asked their cardiologist admited she had never even looked at my records or the report I'd brought in! Then, when I needed to see a pulmonary doctor, they gave me a breathing test. The guy giving it stopped short telling me I definately had serious problems and he saw no need to make me suffer. Next they did xrays. Back down the hall to my doctor and he imediately told me that the breathing test went well and the xrays showed my lungs were healthy. I knew better because a long series of private specialists said my lungs were in such bad shape, and so badly scarred that a bout of pneumonia could easily kill me! During my heart operation both of my lungs were in such bad shape that both collapsed and my left one has again since. That is how the VA treats veterans! I go for check ups but other than that I told them in plain English what they could kiss! I suffer severe nerve muscle and joint pain, the vertabrae in my back are seriously deteritated the full length. The nerve channels calcified and pinching the nerves. Vertabrae in my neck are so calcified they are fused. But like with Squib, no pain meds for me. Might be habit forming. They say simple exercise will heal me.  I have to rely on private doctors to stay alive and even function. The VA systom is shameful and that's putting it very mildly!

Spirithawk;
  Best thing that could happen is for congress to be tossed off their gold plated medical plan and have to gho through regular VA channels. I just bet things wouild change quickly !
  VA care seems to vary greatly, according to location. My friends who have needed serious care have been pleased with the care given in any of the 3-4 available VA centers in my end of the state. On the other hand, I have 2 brothers who go through the VA center in Houston..horror stories abound.

The VA hospital in Birmingham used to be a damn good hospital, with good care. But since the blacks have taken over the city, the employees have went from mostly white to 98% black and service has gone to hell!
  I once got good care there, but am now going to join one of the HMO's and see if can get any decent care. They damn near killed me the last time I had surgery there and it looks like I may be going to have to have more soon. I sure don't want to do it there. Might not make it this time.

 You may be correct that the term "big pharma" is a common usage, especially among reporters, but then we muist be aware that the vast majority of the lamestream media reporters...are of the left!  :D ;D

         Yes, medical skill/concern varies from place to place, even in a civilian venue...but civilian patients can "vote with their feet" to attend a different venue.
   ...And if the service at a civilian clinic were as shoddy as some few VA clinics are said to be...free enterprise competition would shortly close their shop.
