Looking for INFO... Older Weaver reticles

Hi,



I have an older Weaver K3 60-B with a reticle that consists of a tapering post that just crosses the horizontal wire up from the bottom.  


Is this a common reticle type??

It was common but losing it's popularity when I was a young man.  And that's a while back!   ;)

I would say very common from the late 1950's through the 1960's especially in the 2.5 and 3 powers.

As mentioned above, at one point they were very popular. I have heard that perhaps the reason for the popularity is that the post is quite like the sight picture looking through a peep sight at the front sight of military rifles of that era ( M-1's, rifle and carbine, M-14, 1903A3, 1917, etc).
