Big Bore Requirements?
« on: October 21, 2003, 08:58:16 AM »
I think there should be a minimum on topics discussed in this forum. Im thinking we should limit it to .40 and larger driving a 300 grain or larger bullet at or above 1500fps.  Not to offend but I just dont think the 270, 7mm, 300mags, ect.... belong in this forum.
what do the rest of you all think??

In a way I agree.  But to me it should be something like this;

1.]  Tiny Bore - .17 up to but not including .243
2.]  Small Bore - .243 up to but not including .284
3.]  Medium Bore - .284 up to but not including .375
4.]  Big Bore - .375 up to but not including .600

Anything bigger than that comes under the "Oh Momma" class.  Lawdog

Lawdog,
That's reasonable. I could live with that.

I think LawDog hit it right on the head. I was just reading a post in the Big Bore forum about a .270 vs a 7mm. I had to make sure I was in the BIg Bore forum.

Is there a medium bore forum that I can ask some questions?  I agree that it's not a big bore, but it's not a small bore either?  Where can I ask questions?

Encore Kid - nope, not by that name but GrayBeard does have a great Encore and Contender forum just up the line, and there is also the General Hunting and Shooting Forum, and there is a Smallbore forum where folks will prolly think you are too big and ask you what you need all that power for ( :-D ), so it's six of one and half a dozen of the other, and you should have a lot of fun whichever way you go.  HTH.  Mikey.

I agree.  If the Small Bore forum stops at .264 caliber and Big Bores start at say .375 caliber we need Graybeard to start a forum for us Medium Bore shooters.  What say you fearless leader?  How about a forum that covers everything over .264 but not including .375?  Lawdog

:D I agree whole heartedly.  I also thought I punched the wrong forum.  I kinda figure the big bores start around .40 caliber,and go up to the sky after that.  I shoot the .375H&H and go up from there to the .600nitro...stay safe....King
