Fletching favorite pro/con
« on: September 23, 2010, 08:37:25 AM »
Ok guys since a I cant get my Dad on the phone today I'm putting it out there for your insight on what is the best fletching and the pro/cons.
I'm looking to putting a 4 fletch parabolic on some CX Heritage. Question...do you need to shorten the length of your fletching ie..5" to 4" when using 4 fletch compared to 3 fletch?? Also...what are the difference between the different shapes of the fletch? I like the Parabolic but would like to know how the different shapes affect the performance of the arrow.

I know thats alot of ?????? but I'm all about gathering all the info I can in order to make an effective decision. Thank you for your time and thoughts....

Here is what I'm hunting this year.

Not Cx Heritages (though I have some fletched the same) but they are 4 fletched with 5 inch Shield Cut feathers.

Pros - no need to worry about how to nock the arrow other than getting the nock on the string, stablizes big broadheads better, and you have faster arrow recovery from shooter paradox (shaft bend).

Cons - Loss of arrow speed (though for the ranges we shoot not noticed), cost a little more, takes a little longer to fletch each arrow.

As you can tell I'm a big fan of the 4 fletched arrow.

Derek, I can't wait to send you my CX Haritage 150's to re-do for me and will want them in a color that is very easy to find.  ;D ;D

3 each 5" shield cut with a right helical is what I prefer.
