I have had my Springfield XD-9 compact for almost 7 years, it has been reliable, I think I have around 2,000 rounds through it.  Took it to the range and was comparing it to my new Glock 17.  The Glock is far more accurate than the XD, but it is longer too.

The back of the frame where it holds the slide in its movement is totally plastic, never noticed this before, there is play in this area up and down/sideways between the slide and frame, despite being well greased and oiled all these years, the Glock uses steel lips and is more tighter.  The chamber of the XD has strong machining rings, I have seen some similar on the H and K rifle (CETME), but those are with length wise slots to allow dirt in the chamber and function, the XD marks are rings, how odd.  The recoil spring plate that rests next to the frame rod seems to be spinning with wear marks, now there is a line on it, (crack?)

The rear site was hammered into it's proper place for windage with a punch and has impact marks, I notice this years ago, but the thing shoots to point of aim ok, shouldn't the factory have used a press tool like the Glock does?  ???

Been looking at the Smith and Wesson M and P, does it have all plastic in the rear frame area like the Springer, and do the new Springers also have an all plastic frame area for holding the slide?

Thanks.
