cleaning a leaded barrel
« on: July 19, 2010, 01:32:14 PM »
I shot my 32 spec i think 4 or 5 different range trips, all cast bullets, without cleaning it. The other day i grabbed a copper "Chore Boy" at the grocery store. It's basically a copper brillo pad....pulled off a couple strands, wrapped it around a bore brush, dipped it in Hoppes(perfume ;)), and gave the barrel three strokes with the brush then two patches and it looks like a mirror. Works really good. Just make sure the chore boy is all copper. I hear that some are copper plated steel.....

Yup. Way to go. Use a magnet to determine if the chore boy has any iron in it. If it does, give it to the missus to use in the kitchen and go buy something made of copper.
