My first car was by far my favorite. It was a '79 Olds Cutlass with a 350 Olds motor and a 400 turbo tranny. I bought from my cousin who wanted to upgrade. It was by far the fastest car in school and I proved it every day on the way home. Smoked the tires forever and when that 4 barrel kicked in you could watch the gas guage drop. Good thing gas was a lot cheaper back then.  ;D

It's a toss up between my '88 Ford Ranger and my '99 Jeep Wrangler.
 The Ford was the first new vehicle I'd ever owned.  I drove it for 11 years and put over 220,000 relatively trouble free miles on it. I finally dumped it in 1999 when the trans grenaded, which led to the Jeep I still own.
 The Jeep is an absolute ball to drive, and never fails to draw attention.  There's just something cool about a Jeep.  What's even better is when I got involved with off-roading, I never dreamed I'd end up meeting all the wonderful people that I have.  There is a comraderie amongst Jeepers that I've not seen in my other hobbies.

 That was my favorite, but mine was a green '95. Really burned me when they came out with a floor shifter in '96.  >:( It was the least depreciated, newly purchased car I ever sold; Paid $23K for it and sold it five years later for $20K.

 Close second, my '64 Chevelle SS.

my favorite changes quite often  ;D that's probably why I have had over 50 cars, my dad and grandpa had service stations and my uncles had a couple body shops and one was a dealer for 30 years. so I was into cars at an early age and often. At present my toys are down, I have a 73 Vette with a blown smallblock (almost street legal) and a 67 Chevelle 300.only option from the factory was a PG trans. did a total frame off and rebuilt everything or replaced with new. it's mt favorite for the time being ;D

I also had kind of an odd Ford Galaxy. If I remember right it was a 66. It was an  automatic on the floor, but it had black tuck and roll interior, a wrap around rear seat like a T Bird and the dash, shift console, seat trim and all other trim was all chrome from the factory. Never seen another one like it before nor since. Wish I still had it as it was probably rare. anybody ever see one? Had an 83 Olds F85 convertible that had an experimentle motor with aluminum heads. It had a 4 barrel carb that the intake was about as big around as the top of a can of Cambells soup. Little bitty carb but man would that car fly. Only seen one other like it. Can you all imagine what some of our old cars would be worth today?  :D

Sprit Hawk:  In 1966, I had a Black Two Door 1956 Ford Crown Victoria.  Car had been really taken good care of, and looked showroom ready.  Big chrome Trim that went from the back taillights forward to the area at the back of the Door.  Then up and across the top.  Lots of Chrome trim inside as well.  Interior was Black and White.  Automatic Transmission, with floor shifter.  Shifter houseing was all chrome.  Beautiful Car.  

I had stopped for gas and was waiting for an opening in traffic to pull out onto the highway.  Here came my younger brother in a 58 Chevy Bel-Air, that I had bought for him to keep him out of my Crown Vic.  He went to turn in to the gas station and his brakes failed.  Hit me broadside and totaled both cars.  My plan was to beat him to within an inch of his life, but they pulled me off him, and would not let me go.  Sibling Rivelry.

    My favorite was my first, also a 64 Comet.  Mine was about as plain as you could get one, 170 CI engine, 3 spd. manual, AM radio, and heater thats about it.  But i will say this about it, it sure was easy to work on and it ran great, started instantly in below zero weather and would go a long way on $ 1.00 worth of gas.  Being a teenager at the time I use to get in turn the key to on , shift into reverse, hold the clutch in with my right foot and with the door open push the car backwards with my left leg and as soon as it would move a couple a feet pop the clutch and it would start, Everytime!  Not that the starter didnt work it was just cool to do it that way.  That car was so simple and reliable , friends of mine from back 40 + years ago still mention that car alot when we talk old times, Ill never have a better one.   Jed

jedman:  Mercury Comets, they were populer in the mid 60s.  When I got my drivers licsence in 1966, my Mom had a 64 Comet Wagon.  3 speed on the column.  Same as you discribed yours.  Mom loved it.

More into Harleys than cars. But, if I had to pick one, a '69 Pontiac Grand Prix. Only the '70 Caddy Eldo had a longer hood.(When bought out, Pontiac boasted a longer hood than the 16 cylinder Dusenberg)Leather interior,air,pw,pb, and the Model J we had, came with a 428HO engine that was 370+hp. I could cruise at 110-120 on the expressway. Never got a ticket, just plain lucky. Only problem with that car, with that long hood, big engine, all the weight was up front, 2'' of snow, and it would just sit and spin the rear tire's. Dad ended up putting 200-300lbs of sand in the trunk. Which by the way, was just big enough for 2 medium size suitcases. Not much room in there. Back seat wasn't that big either, made for some interesting times at the drive in though!!  :) :) gypsyman

Factory truck . I have had 4 diesels - 1 ford , 2 dodge's and a chevy. None would pull as well as the V-10 . Of course 7 mpg on the road was a bit expensive  ;D

  I'm lost...  You said in that post that you have a V-10 Dodge diesel...  I said "origional, because there's no such thing...

I believe he was refering to the Dodge when they had the Viper V-10 engine in them. he didn't really say the V-10 was a diesel  :)

Here's my son's 68 GMC, 327 under the hood. Plus my daughter and son-in-laws Toyotas. They both are career Navy but he makes lift kits as a side line. Bottom is my son's hunting rig.
