Ruger old army conversion cylinders.

I need some help please.   I have a ROA stainless would like to go to 45 ACP.  Kirst Konverter makes a 45 ACP cylinder for the ROA.
Has any one tryed a Kirst Konverter cylinder in any caliber?  Your experience with it good or bad.

I have the old army in stainless also. But my conversion cylinder is R&D. So I can't comment on the  Kirst. But the Old Army with the R&D cylinder are first rate!
  I got a .44 magnum cartage mixed up with my .45 cowboy loads and it fired! It scared the hell out of me, but did no damage to the gun! So both Ruger and R&D make very strong gear.
    I guess they know there will be dummies like me.

Thank you for your comment about R&D cylinder.  44 mag....was it a full load 44 mag?   It would scare more then the HELL out of me, I'm glad you are not hurt, love that ROA for being strong.  I have a R&D cylinder for my ROA, I shoot Blazer 45 LC...200 gr jhp @1000 fps with 388 ft-lbs at 50 yds.  R&D dose not make a 45 ACP cylinder for the ROA. I called Kirst Konverter they make a 45 ACP cylinder for the Ruger.  I talked to a gunsmith at Kirst, he told me the Ruger is strong as a sherman tank and it can handle FMJ and JHP bullets up to 1000 fps.  I have a lot of 45 ACP....FMJ and JHP in 230 gr  I have know experience with Kirst, looking for some one that has a conversion cylinder from them and do they like it.

Yep, factory .44 mag. I doubt any gun other than a Ruger would have handled it I think one thing that saved my butt was the fact that the .44 is .429 and the .45 is .452. The difference allowed gas to escape around the bullet and lessen the pressure. That is my guess. I guarantee it won't happen again!

I have the Taylor {R&D} Conv. cylinder. This cylinder is  beautiful, the machine work is great. The only problem I have is the short chambers. When loading the 250 grs. Kieth bullets you have to seat too deep in the case.  I can use the 225 grs. RDN with a taper crimp which works OK. I am going to use the .45 Schofield Brass with the larger slugs.  I think the Schofield will work better than the .45 Colt brass.  The next problem was the front sight.  I had to make a taller front blade in order to zero the ROA.  THe ROA was shooting 10" high at 25 yds. with the Lee 230 gr. bullet and the .45 Colt loads.  I had the smith make a blade 1/8" of inch higher than the orginal ROA front sight. This allowed the gun to shoot 10" low at 25 yds. I was able to file and set the sights at 25, 50 and 100 yds.
