Steyr M95 Stuck bolt. Help!
« on: December 03, 2003, 11:31:43 AM »
I got a nice little Steyr Mauser 1895 Carbine,Cal.8x56R as a gift. I got a book from the library on it and downloaded disassembling instructions from the Internet. I pushed the trigger forward to release the bolt. Withdrew it to the rear and it jammed up in the rear of the frame. Apparently iI tilted the bolt on the way out. the two rear lower lugs are in the track in the rear of the receiver and the forward lug  is hung up in the left side track. I disassembled the rifle. The bolt doesn't move in any direction, I tried tapping gently on the bolt in all directions to no avail. It seems my only recourse is to pound it back in and hope it doesn't do any damage.   ..... Any body any suggestions?...............Horsefeathers.

I solved the problem. It seems that the bolt head is kept in place by the extracter which moves about when it shouldnt. the problem usually prevents insertion of the bolt. In my case it moved out and jammed. I moved the extractor back in and it came out.   Case Closed.  Horsefeathers..............
