« on: August 02, 2010, 06:41:57 AM »
I have some cast lead, gas checked 215 grain fp bullets no one seems to have much data for the 215 grain bullet can I load it with the data for a 200 grain lead bullet. do I need too reduce the powder a little? I,ll be loading these in 44 special cases, also shooting in redhawk I.am trying to come up with a mild load for wfe too shoot.

I am not sure what powders you are using, but accurate powders show 215 grain SWC load data, see link below.

Also, since you are using them in the strong Ruger Redhawk you are very safe.

If that is the Lyman 429215 gascheck bullet, data for it is listed in both the Lyman Cast Bullet handbook and the Lyman Reloading Handbook.  I've used this bullet in 44 magnum rifles ever since I started casting for that caliber.  It's a favorite of mine--so much so that I never bothered to buy another 44 mold.  The gunrag writers don't write about it--they're fixated on heavier bullets, but this one can be loaded to be very accurate.  It doesn't bounce off game animals either.

JL is right about that 429215.  With a smidgen of Bullseye, it can act like a target bullet.  Add a fair dose of/ Unique and you can wind up with a speedster that can handle about anything in Texas.
