12ga slug reloading, RSS-12 Rigid Structure Sabot
« on: August 22, 2010, 04:58:05 AM »
BPI has a new sabot ( RSS-12 Rigid Structure Sabot ). I contacted them and they sent me load info on the sabot with a Hornady  .500 50 CAL 350 GR XTP Mag hollow point bullets. Some of these loads are reaching speeds of 2000fps. That's faster than my muzzleloader with a 250gr xtp. The sabots run about $0.34 a piece. XTP's run about $0.70. I bet any .500 bullet would work. Was wondering if anyone has tried them. If so , do tell. would love to hear your results.
My biggest fear is ( when I'm dead) my wife will sell my hunting stuff for what I said i paid for it.

Hey, Jim.  I belong to another forum, shotgunworld.com, that has followed this matter very closely for the last two years.  The guys there have had some accuracy issues with .50 cal jacketed bullets and most use .512-.515 lead bullets in 425-500 grains to get optimum accuracy.  It is a 20-page thread under the "slug shooters" forum.  I have not bought any of new sabots yet as I am still using up my old gray ones.  Have 2 bags left.

Hello and greetings to you all I'm Ajay and the one that had put out that post in Shotgunworld about the BLS 12 sabot.
The new blue sabots are a total failure and it would be a waste of your money to even buy them. The older grey BLS 12 were slightely better but still no good.
May I suggest Midway has IDS commadore slugs 10 pack for $6.99. Go for it.

Have a great day.
Ajay
