I just bought a snubby in 44sp and I was not a ware of any 2" being fazed out. I own 3 Taurus guns and can't get a catologe, my only complaint.

I've come across a Taurus 450 'Air-Lite' in SS at a local pawn shop. The gun is NIB. The dealer wants $400 for it. I'm a HUGE fan of the .45LC and think it would make a great CCW piece. I've heard it was discontinued and wanted to verify that before buying it.

I'm not sure what the Model 450 is. Looking at the last post prior to this one I'm gonna hazard a guess it is a snub nosed .45 Colt?

When I last spoke with the folks at Taurus about why some guns weren't being made I was told that the .44 Special and even .45 Colt guns they've introduced haven't sold up to expectations and they are considering dropping them if that continues. They said they sale 10 .45 acps for one of the others. Obviously the .38 Special and .357 Mag guns are the really big sellers.

My dad is already set up with his Dillon to load .45LC for CAS, so ammo won't be a problem(another selling point :) ).

I have seen alot of interest in the 44sp in my area. I traded my 38 snub colt for a 44sp Taurus snub and am real happy with it. For a carry gun its the bigger bore and firepower I wanted. For a reloader brass is available thru most stores.

The only 2 reasons I can think of for why anyone discontinues a product is 1. Limited Edition and B. Poor Sales.....

I have a 450SS and really like it. Finding a good holster is a pain but it will fit a K model holster. I traded for the gun and it came with a bobbed hammer. Now if I can ever get ahold of taurus so I can get an original hammer I would be very happy.

Gun shoots great with very little recoil (considering its a 2" 45LC). I'm happy with it.

One would think that the model 450 would be an excellent conceal and carry weapon, what with the snub nose and the .45 cal round, which quite a few consider to be the ultimate man stopping round. Looks like it would be a hot seller. All this talk has given me the itch to look into finding one myself

I was thinking it would make one HE!! of a BUG(I'm a part-time LEO).

ASSuming I were to get this one, WHERE could I find a decent set of SMOOTH WOOD grips for it?

TIA

Like others have said, if they stopped producing it, it has to be a money issue. If it was selling good they would still have it. I bought one of these about three years ago, and it is my constant companion. I have the stainless steel version w/ porting and ribber grips. The grips are the best I've ever used.
