New Yildiz Over and Under
« on: June 21, 2010, 04:21:53 AM »
Just got one from Academy.  I made the poor fellow open every box, and it was worth it.  My example had wood that would shame most grade III stuff found on a Browning, Ruger, etc.  It is light, and will need a better recoil pad, which I purchased.

But this thing is nice, very nice.  The wood is very highly figured walnut with lots of contrasting water marks.  Just beautiful. $399.

Never seen one. Where are they made?

I prefer Browning Citori White Lightning O/Us for my shooting. They tend to fit me as if made specifically for me.

Well GB, I do too, but if I came home with a new Browning, my wife would probably beat me with the butt end of it, given that I just bought a new springer two months ago.

I reckon some folks have such problems. Faye doesn't involve herself in my purchases never has. She often goes with me to the gun shops and always goes with me to gun shows. She has several guns of her own tho not as many as me. She's gone hunting many times taking small game, hogs, exotics but so far no deer. She just never seems to have a legal deer in range when she goes.

Yildiz shotguns are made in Turkey.
Nice walnut.
The barrels look like they may be soldered together as opposed to being machined out of a single block of steel.

It is probably only second to the low end 870 express in shogun sales at the Trussville Academy.
Every time I am there, they are writing one up.

I had it in 12 gauge several about 6 years ago.
Every once in a while it would surpise me with both barrels.
Two future residents of Holman Prison drove away with it in my wife's car.
I replaced it with the same model in 20 gauge. I like it better.

Skarke - what gauge is yours? I still have the spare tubes for the 12; two per choke, (except the two that are in some drug dealer's trunk.)
The difference between people who do stuff and people who don't do stuff is that the people who do stuff do stuff.

Yea GB, my wife is also pretty good about stuff like that.  She's steppin' with her pink 10 22, pink ear muffs, and pink glasses ;D  She just likes for me to pay the mortgage.  Imagine that ???

PowPow,

Bummer on the lost shotgun.  Yea, they are soldered, but most doubles are (maybe all?)  I used to have a smithing license many moons ago, but the Clinton election pretty much made hobby gunsmithing not worth the bother.  You had to be very careful with doubles in the bluing tank, or you'd end up with several nicely blued individual pieces and barrels.  Customers probably wouldn't find it too amusing.

Mine's a 12.  I'm absolutely blown away with the wood.  I'll post some pics when I get back from Mehico.  I added the Limbsaver recoil pad, which made a HUGE difference.  I'll cut the stock about a half inch and do a perfect job when I have the time, right now it is, though custom fit for the gun, just a wee bit off and a half too long for my pull.

I bought an extra skeet choke, and keep 2 in the barrel.  The rest, as you know, are ic thu full.  I'm gonna be shooting some sporting clays in a tournament this fall, I think those guys shoot ic, but I'm not sure.  If those chokes are just sitting around, give me a PM, I might like to acquire them.

I sure am throwing a lot of lead downrange lately.  I hope the commies don't kill our sport.
