I had a BSA Sweet 17 on a converted .22 mag bolt rifle, and as long as the wind wasn't going too hard, could dial distances out to 300 yards. Worked great for a couple of years, and was greatly assisted by use of a range finder. As I got better at doped distances, I didn't use one so much, but when ammo started getting scarce, it became more useful to get a good distance reading, dial the distance on the scope. made a lot more 1st round hits. The reticle finally came loose (too much p/u bouncing). As long as you keep an eye on the elevation adjustment knob location (they can get rotated out of position)/ I used some 20 grain v-max type and didn't see any real difference, once the combo was re-zeroed. Out to 200 yards, it was still 1 & done. With a little range work, you can figure what differences would be there between the 17 & 20 grain projectiles.
