Sounds like Daddy bought his son a "hog in a box" hunting trip.
Wasn't Hogzilla the same kind of thing?

I'm not sure...there are conflicting stories.  The Hogzilla story is that the hogs were eating from the farmer's feed lot to get this big.  It's hard for me to believe they could get this big rooting wild.

This story also claims the hog absorbed an enormous amount of lead and still led them on a chase for 3 hours.

We had hogs get almost his big on the farm, but they could barely make it to the feed  trough.

I guess only the folks that shot it are sure......

This is a very old story a few years at least. We had lots of discussions about it when it actually happened.

I used to hunt some with the guy who put this "hunt" on for the boy. I stopped cuz he was NOT the kinda person I wanted to hang out with. I'll skip the nasty details but suffice to say I saw him do enough things that I knew I didn't want to be in the same county as him if I could help it.

They bought the hog from a farmer local to the area. It had been a family pet all its life. They transported it to the small fenced enclosure and took the boy on the "grand hunt". The dad and boy claimed ignorance of all the real facts in the case tho I think that's likely not truthful on their part. Either they knew or were might dumb in my opinion. Once the truth came out about the hog the story died down real fast. I'm surprised it has surfaced again. The local game wardens investigated as it's illegal in Bama to move wild hogs from one place to another and release them. But since this was a barn raised hog and was moved to a hog proof fenced area no state laws were broken.

They bought the hog...

That's what I thought.
3 hours to chase a hog that big... either that's one slow kid or Daddy paid so much for the hunt that he did not want it to over in 5 minutes.
I would rather hunt chipmunks in my backyard.
