Magic rifles.
« on: July 29, 2010, 12:36:49 PM »
I've been blessed.  I own two of them.  A handi .45-70 and a Ruger .308 M77 MKII.  Ya gotta understand, I'm old and shakey.  Yet, I can hit anything I can see with those two rifles.  I'm sure I miss-aim, and it's gonna be a miss, but both rifles KNOW what I'm shooting at and correct accordingly.  I know it sounds wierd, but that's what happens.  I've shot both of them to past 400 yards and they take down the target every time.  I AM NOT a good shot.  It can't be me, it's gotta be the rifles.  Anyone else experienced this?

Pete

A friend of mine has an old Mossberg .22LR semi auto with the flip down forend. I'm not sure of the model number but that thing makes me look like a really good shot. I can shoot ragged 1 hole groups with open sights at 25 yards. He won't sell it to me lol :(

I can't even begin to tell you why that happens.  It just does, and I'm happy for it ;D  I've made some remarkable, no, incrdeible shots with both these rifles over the years.  About three or four years ago I dumped a fox at about 400 yards off the back porch with the .308.  About two days later, I took a coyote  in the same spot.  Both shot through the lungs with one shot.

I repeat, I can't shoot that well.

30-06 Ultra Comp. Too bad it sticks on ejection. On the other hand, who needs a second shot.

It's pretty interesting that the Ruger keeps coming up ;)  But to be fair, I've gotta add the Handi .45-70 to the list.  Yesterday, I chronyed a load for a guy here and whacked the 300 yard gong shooting offhand through the Chrony.  What made it even better, it was a home wrapped load.

I have a couple. Browning BAR Safari II with upgrade Grade V wood and Nikon scope (30-06) just doesn't realize you can't make some shots. I have a 9422M Winchester that kills very effective at 100 yards --- and I don't mean paper. Set the scope on both of those guns 9 years ago, never shot paper since. They just point, shoot, and kill almost as second nature. Now I just need a bird gun that allows me make shots I shouldn't!!!!!!!!!!!!
