5 Days to Armageddon!!!!

Well, I have to say that I'm relatively happy with myself in a non-egotistical way.  I committed to myself to remain vocal and educated throughout the Summer with those around me, and within my community, regarding the coming choices we have this fall in the election.  I was successful.

I also made a commitment to, starting 90 days out, volunteer, canvas, phone, campaign for all things good in my opinion.  I'm tanned, rested, and ready to go.  I've been an adult for over 30 years, and I have never seen energy like we have now.

In fact, IMHO, it is now or never if we are to preserve or regain those things that make our Country great.

Let's make this happen.

Shoot here in bush Alaska the political scene seems strangely quiet. I barely know who is running for what in the primary or what they stand for. I'm not watching any TV so don't see the ads. I was expecting by now I'd start seeing and hearing stuff to get myself educated. Guess I'll have to go looking for it.  About 3 weeks ago I got called in a political poll but I didn't recognize several candidates and had no opinion on who I'd vote for in many cases.

Historically speaking, the election season starts Labor Day.  Pre-work starts in ernest about a month before that.  We'll just have to see whether the true conservatives and libertarians are willing to stand up and be heard as citizens, and hold our elected officials to the heat of the low tax, limited government crucible.

Eddiegr, yes, I know that the way I phrased my post would come across wrong to some.  I made a commitment to myself after the election, and this time, things are different for me.  It isn't intended as self-edification.  I've pontificated over the years about one issue or another, and said many times that "I'm gonna do this or that".  With four kids, a job, 3 dogs, two cats, a mortgage, and a distractable personality, my ability to hold true to the commitments that I've made to myself have, honestly, met with limited success.  Maybe because I had depended too much on others to do the heavy lifting.

Well, now it is like this: if not me, who?  If not now, when?  (If you'll excuse the paraphrase of Hillel the Elder.)

"There needs to be a real hard fought battle and I am prepared to fight it" is what I assume you mean.

I hope others are ready and some group puts up a platform that is worth the sacrafice of the battle to see that platform is put into play.

That's pretty much it, eddiegjr.  That, plus the happenings of the past 20 months have scared me bad enough to get even my hind quarters up and moving.  This is it.  Now, or never.

While I agree with most of what you said, and being an independent in every way, I also believe that it is now or never. I am a Tea Party guy with a Tea Party family, and a wait and see attitude about the rest of the country. I do believe however, that YOUR PERSONAL ANCHOR, that IS, AND HAS BEEN holding you back is those two cats. Get rid or them, and your life will just naturally improve almost immediately. You don't need them, and their inherent attitude is, that they really don't need you either.

As a conservative American I'm proud of you for doing something in the face of what might seem like insurmountable odds to some. Your messege is encouraging to others. Many people are discouraged. Many people are giving up and saying,"what's the use". Some people are just getting tired of not seeing immediate results from their efforts. Now is the time to do everyting we can to turn this country around. Glenn Beck put it this way, "What are you going to tell your kids and/or your grand-kids when they ask, where were you/what did you do at that time in the history of America?"
I think it's good to remember what George Washington, his men and all the original patriots went through during the Revolution to win freedom. They worked hard and suffered much to give us the most free and properous country in history. Now it's up to us to keep it that way!
Hopefully it won't mean taking up arms. But ALL other means must be exhausted first. Pounding the pavement, knocking on doors, writting to representatives and others, email campaigns, donate money, signing petitions, town hall meetings, joining patriotic groups, peaceful protests, of coarse voting, doing your homework to know the truth and informing others. These days are not for couch potatoes and do nothing whiners. Look for ways to get involved. And, if you are so inclined, PRAY....ALOT !!!!  I believe turning America back to the Godly principles it was founded and established on would solve most of our problems.

All it takes is an inspiration for the right cause to motivate the silent majority into regaining their dignity, their hope of a brighter future for themselves and their fellow man .    Be it from a man of the ranks of the common people matters not.  What matters is his desire to persue his vision.   Like the man they called - - - - Gid e on.

The primaries are more important than the final vote. That is where you separate the wheat from the tares. If you wait until the selections are made you will end up with the same old situation.

This is one scenario for lhe lessor of evils :

a real war might be just the excuse for the political pendulum to stick on the side of big government for awhile longer, and that would probably topple our democracy as quickly as power is ALREADY being consolidated.  I hope we don't have a real war for at least 20 years.  even if the enemy deserves it- our nation won't last if the government further nationalizes industry (or even worse declares martial law, political suicide for the one that does it but still possible!!!!!!)

I believe that a large % of people are still saying that if a real alternative platform to vote for, rather than what the Reps and Dems have put forward, they will continue to watch and let it get bad enough that something will have to give.

The tea party seems to represent the intent that if they don't win they will throw support to the Reps and that represents no change. Back to the lessor of.

I agree the pressure is still building and something will happen wheather it is controlled or not.
