If you want a cheap 45 LC Carbine

CDNN has the Classic Carbine 45 LC for $229.

Thought some of you may be interested. I am otherwise occupied with double barrels right now or I would buy one.

You need to check in more often  :D, they've had it on sale for a couple months now, last week, until Saturday, they had them for $199.99 and $9.99 shipping, Richard called and they still had 300 in stock!!  :o

I thought I was doing well at 275 a while back :'( :'(  It makes me want to get another for the frame and stock.  Make a shortie .45-70 or .30-30 and sell the barrel.  This affliction is awful. ::)

I rationalize buying more as they get cheaper because it brings my overall average cost down. Somehow it also brings down my checking account balance  too. Don't women do the same thing with shoes?

How do these shoot cast bullets? I am really leaning to getting one, for a plicker. To my eyes they are the best looking Handi to come out.

Mine shoots 200gr. RNFPBB bullets nicely.  Very accurate groups, and I use them for closer range lower velocity plinking.  Same bullet I like to load up for .45 ACP ammo.  I have tried a few 255 gr LSWCBB as well, but had some issues with groups.  Need to play with velocity, because I think with the heavier slug I need to jump from 6 to 8 or 9 gr. Unique for these.  I just made some, but haven't had a chance to test.  I keep the velocities lower since they are Bevel Base bullets and I want to avoid leading.  I hope to order some nice GC'd 300 grainers to try out this pay period. ;)

Thats what I am wanting to hear. That is real close to what I have in mind, a 900-1000 fps 250 grain cast bullet, for low recoil and cheap shooting.

If you are interested in the ones I'm using, he has great prices.  They are sold locally here also in MI at several stores.  Not sure where you are located.  You get 1000 for 86 bucks.  Pretty cheap.  I use the 200 and have also used the 250's.  I like the 200 because they work equally well in .45 acp and .45 colt.  8)  I reload for my New Model Blackhawk Convertible which has an ACP cylinder.  His website isn't super hip, but he and his family have been in the shooting sports since the 70's and he has some neat info on what all competitions they've won.  The only bullet I haven't had great success with was the 350GR. .45-70 bullet.  It's ok accuracy, but since I haven't put on gas checks, I have to keep the velocities down.  I am using them with some 777 loads now, but haven't had an opportunity to shoot them.  I also use his 255 gr. LSWC bullets.  Just make sure you remember to change the drop-down menu to the diameter you want.  I purchase .452, but If you've slugged your bore, you can get the ones that fit .001 over your bore for the best performance.  Good luck. ;)

I know it's saving money.  I can't believe how far smokeless powder goes.  I'm used to loading from 30 to 150 gr. Goex and running through a can in no time.  3 or 4 gr. of Bullseye goes a long way in my .38s.

tacklebury, where are they sold in MI?  I'm going downstate next week and would like to check it out.  Does Jay's in Gaylord have them?

Thanks,

Pete

Even if women buy shoes 'right', I've never seen one sell any and get her money back. 'Course, I've never seen one sell a husband and break even either........

Yep, I buy em at Jays.  He stocks some 500 round boxes and 100's.  I don't think he stocks 1000's though.  Dardas will ship them also, though and uses flat rate box, so it's not too bad for shipping.  http://www.dardascastbullets.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=dardas&Product_Code=45200RNFPBB1000&Category_Code=45RNFP

***edit***  Actually, I should state that Jay's in Clare stocks them, you might want to call the Gaylord store and double check.  Sorry missed the city note on first read.  ;)
