NEF 223
« on: August 25, 2010, 03:19:24 AM »
I have been wanting a 223 for a while now. I was at the local shop yesterday and he had a Nef bull barrel with a scope rail wood stock. Used in the rack for 239.00. Bore looks good with no sign of erosion. Is this a decent price? Are the known to be decently accurate? Thanks Steve

My .223 standard contour is very accurate.  I paid 259 for it on the new style checkered synthetic stock.  I think I'd shop around a bit.  I guess bull or standard depends on what you want to do with it.  All my Handis are woods rifles, so I try to keep them short and light.  I had a .17HMR bull that I didn't like at all. The only way it would sling well was muzzle down, and it was too heavy to lug around all day.

Bud's sells the standard or bull barrel 223 Handi for $255 or Handi-Grip for $275 w/free shipping for comparison.

New Handi's are priced in the $230/250 range in my area.
To answer the question do they shoot? I have several loads that will go 1" or a bit under.
