Benjamin 392 forward scope or rear scope?
« on: June 07, 2011, 06:13:25 AM »
I'm going to scope my Benjamin 392.  Which is better on this gun a rear scope or a forward scope?

Sorry for the topic drift, but...
if you don't need magnification, consider the $50 Bushnell red dot at Academy.
infinite eye relief; mount it where ever you want.
pretty sure they carry it in weaver and tipoff versions.
I have one but its a weaver mount; used it on my 10/22 and 22/45.
if it were tipoff, it would be on my 397.

i vote forward so its not in you way when you pump.

Better than me; good enough for head shots on chipmunks at 20 yards.

I may give it the pistol scope a try.  I would like to get something at least 4x magnifications. I ordered a peep sight yesterday.  I'm going to put it on one of my 392's.

Looks like a dandy to me!! I know one thing is that you don't need the slam bang scope of a springer gun. What make of scope is that? Thanks! scout4<><

Swift Reliant 4x32 pistol scope

You're right; the PSSHHHH of a benjamin is tangential to the line of the scope and barrel. no recoil.
I guess the biggest impact would be slamming the forearm against the barrel while pumping.

I ended up ordering a NCStar 2-7x32 pistol scope from amazon for 37.50.  I'm going to give it  a try.

I'm liking the forward scope with the NCStar 2-7x32.  It's real easy to pump and shoot.  I did find in the solder joint on my Benji.  It's about 1.5" long.  I'm not sure if I'm going to return it or not.  I was shooting 1/2" group at 15 yards leaning against a fence post.  On a bench with a better trigger it would probably be a 1/4" group.

is there a way to lighten the trigger?
I have had mine a part and seem to recall its a sealed system.

typo?
assume you meant "a flaw". do you have something to compare it to? if not post a pic and I will compare it to mine.

I have seen some threads online about lightening the trigger pull.  Yes I did have a typo.  I left out a word.  There is a gap in the solder joint right in front of the rear sight.  I can see daylight through the gap.  I don't think it will hurt anything though.
