What if any safety strap/system do you use and why
« on: August 28, 2010, 10:37:19 AM »
I am going to buy an new safety vest this year. I have always used a ranger seat tied with rope and used rope for the strap around the tree. I just don't want to get caught up in the hype of some of the "name brand" vest if the really aren't that good. I have a cheapo that came with a stand last year but it is junk I just don't trust it. So I thought I would ask to see what everyone else was doing/using. Thanks for any help/input on this matter.
There are very few problems that can't be solved with the proper application of High Explosives!

Because of a bum knee and a rotator cuff injury, I don't use climbers or ladder stands. I just want all of you who use them to PLEASE spend the money for a good safety system.
In 2007, it became my sad duty to inform a wife that her husband had been killed when his climber failed him while going up a tree without a safety system. He was found hanging upside down with his feet strapped in the lower half, and his hands just a few inches from the ground.
Think of your family and friends, not to mention yourself when choosing a lifesaving device, and don't become a statistic.
God Bless you all with a safe and successful season!
