Western bullet Co.
« on: August 09, 2010, 02:11:09 AM »
Hey guys and gals have any of you used this company?  My 45/70 handi is out of food and was wondering if these bullets are pretty good got the other batch from midway great service but i can order more bullets for a cheap shipping with western.  Thinking of the collarbuttons and the 480 grain spitzer.  Any info or opinion is welcome.  Thanks again.

Bradley,

I have had a couple of folks reccommend Western but I have not bought from them, yet.  Just looked at the cast bullets and now have a strong desire to order the .358 250 grn HPGCs and the 225 grain RNGC 30 cals.

What's the use on the collarbutton bullet, light plinker?

I've used a lot of John's bullets, he's even sent me special orders as cast for the 38-55, had a delay once, but I've always received what I ordered, usually very timely. Collar buttons are novelty/plinking bullets for the 45-70.

There was a time I had some slow service from John but things seem to be different now.  I'd say his bullets are very good quality and if he's not overwhelmed with orders, you'll get your order pretty fast.  His prices are hard to beat too!....especially if you need out of the ordinary bullets with gas checks.  I've had good luck with his gas checked 38-55 bullets.

Tim,

Thanks for the Data on the Collarbuttons.   It is legal to hunt small game in Ohio with a centerfire rifle of any caliber so there might be an old bearded guy hunting squirrels next month with a 45/70 shorty. ;D
