17 HMR NEF and targets from the garden
« on: September 02, 2010, 04:35:31 AM »
Had a few guys over last weekend. We were shooting our bows and after while I aked if they wanted to shoot my 17HMR. None of these guys owns one. Well maybe until now. We took a saw horse and lined up cucumbers, squash an the crowd favorite tommatoes. The little 17HMR just vaporized them. Pieces of tommatoes were found 6ft from impact spot. We went through almost 2 boxes of ammo. All the vegetables were over ripe so none were wasted although we were tempted. Water bottles filled with water were a big hit also. Everyone commented on how nice the NEF shot and how accurate it was. I told them the NEF is the best buy out there and I think everyone agreed.

The .17 Mach2 is a real winner as well. I have both and out to almost 100 yards the Mach2 is the winner for accuracy, but when you are talking 10ths, 100th's, or 1,000ths of an inch at 100 yards does it really matter?
The .17 HMR wins in the energy department over the .17 Mach2, but then again, would a coyote hit in the heart or the head at 50 yards be any deader???Congratulations on a great fun filled afternoon and for perhaps starting a few more on the road to Handiholicism....<><....:)

I have the 17 Mach2 also and its a shooter also. We shot some vegtables with that also and it was close to the same results but the HMR with the extra volocity was the crowd favorite when it came to seeing the vegtables fly apart on impact.
I wont argue on accuracy as both 17s are shooters. I'm acutualy lucky enough to own 2 17 Mach2s.
I think that day there were added a few more NEF fans.
