Just wondering what comments about manufacturing quality there are from those who have recently taken delivery of a new Handi Rifle?
I just picked up a Talo Trapper made in Ilion, NY. I know these are not $1,000 guns, but I'm not sure what is standard quality.
My comments about this gun are:
Rifle was naked in box, had some spacers but no plastic or anti-rust wrap. Might have been removed by receiving FFL.
No manual in box. Lock was in plastic wrap in box.
Box was H&R marked.
Rifle stock had an obvious dark knot visible in the middle of the buttstock. Not sure that should have passed QC.
There was a small ding on the muzzle, not on the rifling.
Lever to open the breech was quite loose. If you turn the gun with your wrist it makes a rattle noise.
Barrel is not marked Handi-Rifle or SB2. Only caliber marked on barrel.
Frame marked Harrington & Richardson, made in Ilion, NY., and serial no.
Barrel bears the REP circled stamp like Remington barrels.
Bore appears micro-grooved - very shallow rifling.
This gun has not been fired by me as yet.
Coments welcome.
Thanks!
