Griz hunting in Wisconsin: What's the best revolver?
« on: August 01, 2010, 10:48:32 AM »
If I saw a griz while handgun hunting I'd quick report it to  the Wisconsin DNR, then they would work with the Feds to get ALL griz put on the protected "HOLY LIST".  A griz is a rare sight here in Wisconsin.

There they would assure their propagation by providing everything they need at the expense of people who buy hunting & fishing licenses.  Of course, there won't be enough money left over to even staff the offices that serve their public (who bought and paid for them) but hey, that's the price you have to pay to raise predators with the public game management dollars, huh?  Besides, when you partner with the Humane Society, there are certain obligations, right?

After a few years Wisconsin will appoint a griz guru  who will eventually provide a griz population estimate.  Keep in mind that these same people determined that Santa's sleigh is pulled by one reindeer, and this after "checking it twice".    No doubt the "Chosen One" in D.C. is providing supervision in the "wolf project" here as well.

Eventually the griz will become numerous enough to eat the young of the year.  They will start with the new fawns and graduate to our few elk calves next.  Then come cattle, followed by pets.

If I had my way they would learn to dine on members of congress.  Ours or yours?  Doesn't matter much, does it?   Maybe we should export some griz to D.C. & see if we can get them interested in dining on politicians.  Handguns are now legal there, except you still can't have one, right?

So what is the best revolver for griz hunting in WI?
Vote them all out, EVERY election!

Does anyone remember the scene from "Quigley Down Under" showing the aborigines lined up on the skyline as far as you could see?   That needs to be US!

That's what I bought the Ruger in the other thread for.....Wisconsin grizz! Not that I would ever resort to violent force mind you. I'd do all the things the experts recommend though....tinkle the little bear bells, play dead, use pepper spray and visualize world peace.  ;D

However....If none of that worked it would be comforting to have a half dozen 300 gr. hardcast  missiles loaded over a healthy dose of 2400 ready for deployment. Not to hurt the bear, of course, but merely to frighten it with a close shot. This combo would also work well for wolves wanting to gnaw on my springer. Given the penetration of those big flat nosed slugs one would have to use caution not to actually hit the wolf because the bullet would pass completely through and kill the wolf behind him...a double tragedy for sure.  :o
