Waste not, want not!
I quit eating chocolate, but I'd like to find a swarm of bees. (Protein and carbohydrates, you know.)

Talked to an Apairy owner at the State fair just last Sat who also blamed the BT toxins. His main gripe was that the seed company's have enough money to quickly kill off the idea that they are harmful in legislation.

I ask about the Cell phones which was just regarded as a possibility. We did decide that if the phones proved to be the culprit, America would still never get rid of them.

My own (wild) numbers seemed to be up this year as I had plenty at the Pumpkin & Zuccini blossoms...sure isn't like the old days though where you could find one at almost every dandelion in the yard.

I live in the center of Illinois and I haven't seen anything but bumblebees for the last several years.Around three weeks ago I was talking to a friend who stated that he had seen a few honey bees around his garden. This man lives approximately three miles from my residence.Within an hour of that conversation another friends Wife called and said that there was a large swarm of bees on her Daughters second floor apartment door screen.Attempts to contact a bee handler met with negative results and within a day the swarm moved on.This person lives approximately fifteen miles from my residence.A few days later I noticed a small swarm of honey bees on the bottom of a humming bird feeder in the yard.I poured some coke in the lid of a plastic ice cream bucket the next day, and within a few minutes there were enough honey bees to empty the lid of the coke.I did the same thing for several days with the same results.I don't know where they came from, but I sure am glad to see their return to my garden area.

Tommyt:  Nice rigs.  I first got into Bees on a whim when I picked up a new commercial hive with frames and combs for $5 at a garage sale.   Next spring my Dad called me and said his neighbor had a large swarm in his yard.   In less than an hour I had a hive full of bees.
Enjoy your rights to keep and bear arms.

There was bees here in the new world when the Colonist arrived, there just was not very many.  Most of the contanent was forested and not a lot of flowers for them.  Thyen when the Colonist cleared the land and planted big fields they needed bees to pollinate the crops.  Since the European Honey Bee was not as aggressive, the colonist imported them and they became very populer.  Few people wanted to domesticate and keep hives of the wild bees.

Both My Grandfathers and my Dad kept bees.  My Grandpa Hunter kept what was called wild bees, they were very aggressive.  When my Dad robbed them every year those would follow them around and keep after them till they got quite a distance, several hundred yards from the hives.  Dad put on extra thick clothing, a hat with a net, taped up his sleeves and all openings in his clothes.  He wore thick gloves that was taped at the sleeves and his pants was taped to his boots.  Even his head net was taped down.  And these bees would go after anything that came near the hive for weeks afterwards.  Dad would put something in his smoker to kill them after we got into the shed.  Otherwise they would sting anyone that came close.  And they would no all leave the honey till they were dead.

My Grandpa Williams had the European Bees.  I've seen dad on a cool morning go out and robb them without anything extra on.  No head net, just a pair of gloves, and goggles to keep them out of his eyes.  He seldom got stung.  Dad could pull the soupers and cut out the comb, then just wipe the bees off the honey and put them back into the hive.  They would be swarming all around him, but not stinging.  As Dad walked away, when he got 20 to 30 yards away the bees would go back to the hive.  A few would stay with him, but not many.  he would bring the tubs of honey into the kitchen and we would start working it out of the comb with a press.  Dad would can it with a big piece of comb in most jars.  While Dad and my Grandma was working it they would cut out chunks of dripping comb and give it to us kids.  Sometimes there would be a bee ro two on the chunks, we would just wipe them off onto the floor and step on them.

What Is A Veteran?
A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.' That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today who no longer understand that fact.

My pop and another guy would rob wild hives now and then. If the bees were yellow they would dress less secure. If they were black they would wrap up real well. If they were swarming they would try to catch yellow bees but not mess with the black bees because they were too agressive to keep in the yard. As best as I can remember. eddie

I still haven't drank enough of it to tell that yet - bought a 375ml bottle of it about 4 months ago and I've only taken 3 shots out of it so far :).

The Wild Turkey American Honey stuff is pretty good though.  Was over at a friend's house about 2 weeks ago and I didn't feel like drinking beer so I brought a 375ml bottle of that.  Managed to polish that off that evening.  Good buzz, but certainly not stumble around drunk.  No signs of a hangover the next morning.  If that had been say, E&J, Black Velvet, Canadian Leaf, etc, then I'd have had a heck of a headache the next morning (which is why as I've gotten a little older I've learned to stay away from the bottom of the barrel cheap stuff :)).
