Scope Mount for a Dan Wesson 744 VH
« on: July 23, 2010, 05:29:15 PM »
Would like to know who makes the mounts that dont require anything but ataching to the ventilated shroud and nothing more. Some require sight removal and I would rather not mess up my settings .I have a stainless pistol and really dont care if the mount is black and scope also is black it would still look good.

B-Square; I've had one on my 357SM for several years and it's still tight and holding true.  I had a set of clamp on rings that managed to vibrate loose, use them on my pellet gun now with no problem.

Thank you ,if not mistaken the mount has several small flat pieces that have threaded holes and slide through the vented rib on the shroud and then the mount is fastened to them with screws,a verry sturdy arangement.B square the only ones that make this type of a mount ? Think around $79.00 for the B square mount. Was thinking of useing a Hollow red dot type sight for fast target aquisition or a pistol scope for longer ranges.

blhof+1 I had a problem with the first B-Square mount I bought. The tabs that slide under the vent were just a tad to big. Didn't take but 1/2 hour with a fine file and stone, and got them to slip right under and a nice fit. Second mount was a used one at a gun show, and went in. Still have them both. Now that I'm getting older, plan is that the next deer hunting trip will put a red dot on, as the eye's arn't what they use to be. gypsyman

Millett used to make a 3 ring set, not cataloged any more. I got mine at a gun show, but see them on the auctions, too.

Insite on the red dot; be sure to get a quality one.  I found by trial and error that the cheaper ones go to pieces or turn themselves off with recoil, also carry a spare battery if going for more than one day and check the dot before the hunt.  My crossbow came with a red dot for the bow and it has always worked fine, but I have a box of parts from several cheap scopes from my revolvers and Contender.

Thank you and I thought Millet made a mount but guess it is going to be a Bsquare for a base.Millet had the rings that clamped on the vents if I recall and had a nice look to them but quit makeing them as they dont list them anymore, and thanks for the advice on red dots also,I found air rifles will tear up the cheaper ones also.
