Model 97 .357 with 9mm cylinder
« on: September 10, 2010, 11:33:23 AM »
I am seeking info on how the 9mm cartridge performs in the Model 97. How is the accuracy, and generally how satisfied are folks with this set-up? Thanks Makilly

Seems to me that perhaps Benny123 has such a thing....

Nah, it ain't me. I used to have a FA 357 (353) but it wasn't a convertible. I'd like to hear others opinions to your question, but I also think it would be more of a question of the merits of cartridge design rather than a matter of the 9mm being a accurate round. So, venture to say, it would be less accurate if you were using slower burning powders and going heavy.

There was a guy locally that was selling a short FA Casull with an extra cylinder in 45ACP and I had the same general feelings. Honestly, it just felt too unconventional for me. The selling feature for me would have been that factory ammo would have been a little cheaper if I didn't feel like taking the time to reload.

Sorry I couldn't have been more helpful.

Sorry, Benny. It was Bob96. I believe his was 10" and had .357, .38, and 9mm cylinders. He reported that he couldn't tell the difference in accuracy with iron sights. Post is currently on page 10 (May 21, 2008).

I had the Ruger Blackhawk convertible that shot pretty darn good with the 9mm cylinder, I can only imagine the F/A would be better.
I'm hoping to send my model 97 in for the 9mm cylinder soon, should have ordered it with one, would have been cheaper.
