Anybody here fly fish in Indiana?  I'm just North of the Circle City and am looking for some places to fly fish.

I know absolutely nothing about Indiana fishing, but I've passed through a few times and it looks like a place that would have plenty of farm ponds, hopefully some of them chock full sassy bluegills.  Some of my funnest days on this Earth have been at a good pond, a good mess o'gills and my "whippin' stick". :D

You NEED to stop by FlyMasters.  Its on the north side of Indy near Castleton.  Jon Widboom (owner) is a wonderful man.  They can hook you up with all the local news as well as travel abroad if that's your thing.  Just google "flymasters indianapolis"

I lived in Noblesville for 6 years and can tell you that there are many places on the White River, right in Noblesville, where the smallmouth fishing is excellent.  Many fish around 12" and about 1 in every 5 pushes 18" or more.  I've had many days (May through September) where the river literally came alive with fish to the tune of 10 to 20 fish per hour!

There is a canoe rental place in Noblesville as well that takes you upstream for 1/2 or full day floats.  I recommend the 1/2 day - cheaper and the timing of the trip is for floating not fishing - so, if you stop to fish the 1/2 day is perfect.  A good stretch of the most productive water is the 1 mile north of the canoe rental place.  So, if you go, float the first part quick and spend some time fishing fishing from Potter's Bridge (covered bridge) back to the rental place.  Just down stream of the new bridge (about 5 years old I think) between SR 19 and Allisonville Rd - just upstream of the rental place is a summer hotspot.  Some deep runs and riffles there hold fish and big ones too.

I live up in Porter county.  We have great Steelhead runs in the summer and winter, as well as King and silver salmon runs.  Always a few browns in the creeks and a few ridiculously large browns in Lake Michigan by the factory and energy plant cooling water discharges.  Add that to smallies and other panfish in the rivers and ponds, we are busy!
