414
« on: December 16, 2010, 04:26:42 AM »
In my 40+ years of reloading, I have use only published loads.
I have some 250 gr JSPs in 41 caliber that I want to use in my 414 encore. All I can find are lead loads and not in powders I use.
I have H110 and LIL Gun. What is the best way to come up with a load? Max loads for 210 is 27 gr H110
I am thinking 25 gr H110 should be about right?

Never heard of a 414, but you cannot use cast data for jacketed bullets, your presure will be way to high. Jacketed bullets are harder to push down the barrel and presure is higher. I would think you load would be way to hot.

Sorry, its a TC Encore chambered for 414 super mag.
I am trying to come up with a load for Uncle Joe's 250 gr JSP.
Reloading manuals only list 170 to 220 gr jacket bullets in either 41 mag or 414 SM.
Max load for the 414 is 27 gr H110 with a 220 gr JHC and 25gr for a cast 255.
I am thinking around 25 gr H110 for the 250 JSP.
I know I can't use lead data, thats why I'm asking for advice.

As it was a Dan wesson cartridge for sillywet, I would try some silhouette forums and/or the DW forum. And I believe there is a couple of .414 shooters here but I am unsure where they usually hang out at.

http://www.lasc.us/RangingShotDW414SM.htm Tried that, no big jacketed loads. I read all the old posts from every forum. no 265 jacketed loads.
