pse impala broke
« on: August 08, 2010, 02:48:26 PM »
was shooting my 55 lb pse impala this evening shot about 10 arrows then went in and cooled off went back out 2 hrs later and on the third arrow as I neared full draw it snapped right at the grip cutting my hand in between my thumb and finger and have a nice cut above my eye. I was lucky 1/4 inch lower would have been my eye. just a month away from bow season and only have my browing compound now. tried calling pse but wont be open till tommorow. bought the bow from cabelas 8 years ago and it has been unstrung and limbs unbolted for 3 years straight just got it out again this year. and before someone asks yes I inspect it for cracks every time I string it.

called pse today, woman I spoke to said it only has a year warranty and she could do nothing. I asked to speak to her supervisor several times she kept asking why. she put me on hold and said they were in a meeting and would call me back never did who knows if she even tried to contact her supervisor. and today I have a black eye to top that off. I have read in other posts on another website that they have bad customer service so we will see what happens

Bad customer service?  It's eight years old and seven out of warranty.

did I say I recieved bad customer service? no I didint, still waiting to hear back just stated what I have read on other sites. I can understand a limb breaking but a riser after being shot so little is what upset me. We have several old bear recurves in the family that are 30+ years old that we still string and shoot on ocassion. guess I expect too much from a company like pse thats been around a while.

I wouldn't expect PSE to do anything about it because of the age of the bow.

That really sucks with a capital S!  I would be a little POed as well because you would never expect a riser to break, limbs yes but a riser is almost unheard of happening.  If you need a bow to get by for this season and don't want to spend a lot of money, check out the Samick Sage.  3Rivers has them for $120 plus shipping.  I got one last year for a backup bow and for a cheap TD Recurve I was very impressed.

Good Luck!

good to hear about the sage I looked at it last night will probably buy one this week to get buy. thanks for the input All Hawks kill. PSE offered to sell me a riser but I would rather spend the money towards the sage instead.

I'd rather have the Impala.

You might do well to buy a differant bow from a differant maker.  If your Impala is a TD, see what they would charge for a replacement riser, or order a differant riser from another company that you can use your PSE limbs with.  If your budget is low like mine, I had thought about a Samick Sage which you can get into for about $129.99.  At 3Rivers these were on sale for $119.99 http://www.3riversarchery.com/Sage+No+Tools+Take-Down+Recurve+Bow_c0_s0_p0_i2490X_product.html

I have a Samick Spikeman that is not a TD recurve, but I have only good things to say about it as I shoot it everyday.

I got my sage friday. I ordered a 60lb, shoots good and finish is better than I expected. pse said a riser would be 107 plus shipping. I got my new one for 120. They offered me 20 percent of of msrp on a different model but I told them no thanks I would try my luck with a different brand.

I only have one Samick recurve, and can say nothing but good about them.  PLUS if you want to drop down in poundage weight you can order new limbs for it.

Glad you like your Sage!  Hopefully it will get you by this season.  I have one that I breakdown and take with me on hunts as a backup bow for just in case something happens.  Where I hunt the closest archery shop is 3 hours away so you have to be prepared for anything or you hunt is ruined.  So far my Sage has been really good and shoots very well.

I THOUGHT PSE WAS LIKE MATHEWS, LIFETIME WARRANTY TO THE ORIGINAL OWNER OTHER THAN STRINGS AND SO ON. AT LEAST THAT IS WHAT I READ IN THEIR BOW AND ACCESSORIES BOOK. YES I KNOW IT IS A TRAD BOW, BUT THAT SHOULDN'T MAKE A DIFFERENCE.
