Handis for deer
« on: August 09, 2010, 08:08:41 AM »
anyone know anything about pistol calibers being used in rifles like a .357 handi rifle for deer. Here in Ohio we use shotguns, muzzleloaders, or any handgun bigger than a .357 if I get a .357 or .44mag handi can I use it for deer?

Thanks

You cannot use them. If they allowed you to use straight walled rounds in a rifle you could use a .405 Win., which was Teddy Rosivelt`s favorite Aferican plains round.

I think its BS. We should be able to use straight walled pistol cartridges in a rifle. I dont see how it would be much different than using one of the fancy in line muzzle loaders other than having more than one shot.
Hi NSA! Can you see how many fingers I am holding up?

Yeah lakota! Just another example of people in authority making rules and regulations who don`t have a good solid understanding of firearms and just make kneejerk decisions that the rest of us have to live with!

I agree with both of you I hate when people make laws when they don't even know what they're talking about.

If you want to use the big stuff just get yourself an Encore with the pistole grip and put what ever barrel you think is the best straight wall case you can find on it, they did away with haveing a max lenth, so get yourself a 30 in. barreled handgun.

I have a Uberti Henry lever action replica in .45 LC and a Rossi 1892 clone in .357 Mag and I would love to be able to hunt with them.

It is kind of silly-the Rossi .357 mag lever gun has a 16 inch barrel and it is illegal but I can use a T/C Contender or Encore .357 mag handgun with a 16 inch barrel. Where is their logic????? ???

I think you just described 99.5% of all laws written.
