 ironglow,the bore size of the rooskie is 310..when Ruger put it into the mini 30 they gave it an 308 bore figuring it was going to be easier to get 308 dia. boolits than .310 in the U.S, I know this because I have an pre Clinton Ranch rifle in 30 rooskie and it has a .308 bore,thats why you hear people saying what terrible accuracy the 30 ranch rifle has, is because it does have terrible accuracy with the 310 boolit,but I have loaded up some good shootin .308 rounds for it...........correct me if I am wrong I believe Ruger was the first American manufacture to chamber the Russian round to take advantage of the flood of pre Clinton Chinese ammo............

My Remington 799 in 30 Rooskie's bore is 310 and much prefers this dia........................

And yes they will shoot either Diameter safely....

Only makes sense that ruger would go to the .308, since that is what the handloaders would use..trouble is, not everyone is clued in.
  They need a little more exposure of the information.

hmmmmmmmm.   my 08 mini-30's bore is 309.747

but i does well with the same load as my handi 39, which has a .308 speer hp bullet.

Krochus did some back to back tests in his 7.62x39 CZ with .308" and .311" bullets, his bore was .3105".

 My handi slugs out at .3095 and loves everything I feed it. Lower velocity's 308 130 gr Speer HPs
123 gr Hornadys souped up-sweet and cast 115 RFN-gc and 130 semi ptgc all sized at 310-311 will shoot from .75 to 1 hole groups when I do my part. Don't shoot no steel junk in it. Grandkids love it because of
no recoil and accurate.

Gendoc...is that a HarBar or Mo-Rod on the Mini-30? I have been looking at those and have been wondering how much continuous fire can you put out and still remain accurate?
