Howdy all!
I stumbled upon this site while doing a bit of research on Handi rifles. I just purchased one (.308 heavy barrel) and was curious.
My scope and rings are supposed to be here tomorrow, and I can't wait to get 'em on the gun! I ordered a Bushnell Trophy XLT in 3-9X40 along with a set of Weaver high rings (That's why I was searching. I couldn't decide if I needed taller rings to clear the hammer). A gunsmith friend of mine recommended the scope as a reasonably priced, reliable model.
I ordered the scope from opticsplanet.com. Have any of you ever purchased from them? Just curious.
I also purchased an older Savage model 110 in .243. The gun had been slightly modified (stock shortened) as it was owned by a woman. She assured me that it was very accurate, and she had taken many deer with it. She upgraded to a .30-06. She was single too! Hmmm........
At any rate, I'm looking to upgrade the scope on it. It has an older Bushnell Sportview with the range-finding reticle. I've had one before and never had a prob. with it, but the double cross-hairs annoy me.
The .243 will make a very nice little rifle to take my nephews on the youth hunt here in Missouri.
I've been browsing through the site and it looks like a ton of interesting topics! It's gonna take me awhile to catch up!
