Range Report H&R 45 Long Colt / 410
« on: August 24, 2010, 05:29:51 PM »
I shot 80 rounds (60 Hornady 255gr cowboy loads and 20 Federal 225gr SWCHP).  The barrel shot one-half inch low at 25 yards and one-half to three-quarter inches low at 50 yards. The barrel shot straight and true and even without sights and in a standing position I was able to repeatedly hit a man size chest area target at 50 yards. I was very impressed with the 45 Long Colt / 410 barrel and although it was certainly not a tack-driver, it will definitely make a great short range deer gun.

Very cool.  I almost bought one, but chose to do a .45LC BC instead.  Glad you are having good luck with it.  I may yet have to try one out some day.  ;)

I went tacklebury's way.  I've got the .45 BC and a .410 Pardner, no fuss, no bother....just grab the one you want to use.  My .410, with a bead front sight, shoots slugs about as well as I've heard the .45/410 shooting .45s.  If you had a .410 with sights, what advantage would the combo give you?  IMHO H&R should have dumped that barrel long before the 7x57, 7.62x39, etc. and now I hear the .45 BC.  Don't know what ails those folks ???
