Went back to Cabela's today to look at the 1894 44 mag. setting on the used rack.  Wearing XS sights and new condition except for the butt stock.  A dark color the shape of a Pachmeyer slip-on pad by the butt plate.  They would only take $25 off of the $499.99 price, BUT I had a $150 gift card burnin a hole in my pocket. ;)  So, out the door price to me was $324.99 wearin the XS sights.  I think a leather cartridge cuff for the butt will cover that stain up just fine. 8)  DP

I think the stain gives it character. Congrats and enjoy. What caliber?

1894s, I love them! Just got a new one two weeks ago, 44 mag this time. My wife has
claimed the 1894c and I could not find another. I would be just as happy with the new
one if I could get it to feed. It jams with specials or mags. I found an article on the MO
site and will see if I can pull off the fix. Did I mention that I like 1894s? Enjoy, betcha
you can't stop at just one 1894!
PS Love my 336 30-30 and 1951 39a too!
