I must admit, it was hard for me to fault the factory sights, but there it is.

Ruger [factory] customer support is phenomenal.
Everyone [who I know of] who ever dealt with them had nothing but profuse praise.

You guys have got me all fired up for a 357mag 3' SP101.     

Many years ago, I had a 357mag Ruger Security Six, which has to be one of the greatest carry guns ever made.   
Unfortunately, I had to give it [along with a pile of $$$] to an attorney friend for his work on my future ex wife's latest annual car wreck.       

Some years and a divorce later, I had a 357mag 4" GP100 which I liked , but it was a bear to carry; so I sold it
I got a 357mag 2" SP101, but sold it when I decided that a J frame Bodyguard was a better coat pocket rocket. 

Now, I have decided that the LCR [which I have] is the ultimate coat pocket rocket.     
That dog gone 357mag 3' SP101 would make a perfect companion belt gun...         

Our local gun shop [noted for good service, at ok prices] has some 357mag 3' SP101s at $499.97.

I shot mine today with a variery of loads. Federal 125 grain JHP, Double Tap 158 grain Gold Dot, 158 grain Sierra JSP with a full charge of 2400, Speer 158 grain JSP Unicore with a full charge of 2400 and a hot loading of the 180 grain LBT hardcast. The SP 101 will handle them all with ease. All full power loads. I carry mine in a Simply Rugged pancake holster. They are a real hardy little handgun.

I have always loved Ruger handguns. I guess the biggest reason is that they are build like brick ____houses. I have never had one break on me, although it is apparent that some come from the factory with small problems. You can be rest assured that Ruger will take care of it.
I don't know why it has taken me all these years to become interested in a Sp. I guess I just never had, or found a use for a small, short barreled .357. I would have liked one with a 3 inch barrel, but couldn't find one in this area, so I settled for a 2.25 inch.  I've smoothed some internal parts up and added a lighter hammer spring, and have been shooting this gun a lot since getting it, and I love it. So for now its my new carry gun, and the .45 stays at home. Even though its a small handgun, I find it manageable with max .357 loads.
