In the FAQs if you're interested in the H&R Target Classic, use the page search for 38-55.

you can learn a lot of general and historical info just from wikipedia. Barnes cartridges of the world is a real handy reference also and that, or say a Lyman Reloading manual would make neat and not too expensive christmas gifts.

Tim is too conservative.  He customized a .38-55 barrel for me, cutting it to 18 inches and recrowning it.  It also came with bonded bulets that shoot very, very well.  Thank you, Tim.  I will get a deer with it yet this year.

Most of my reloading manuals have data for the .38-55, but a lot of them are for older rifles, not the Handi.  It's the same problem with pistol caliber carbines....the recommended loads are for pistols and not rifles.  I have no clue why they don't publish data for all three, older rifles, new rifles and pistols.  It's obvious an 18 inch barrel can burn slower powders than a 6 inch hand gun.
