Headstamp question.
« on: August 30, 2010, 01:01:53 PM »
I'll admit to scrounging brass at my local range when it's just laying there.  8) In the last few years I have picked up a few hundred .223 cases. I am familiar with most headstamps but about half of what I have is stamped RORC 91 or LC. Some of the LC has 88 or 89 but quite a bit has no numbers. Can anyone tell me anything about these? I have no knowledge of either.

I think LC is Lake City. Never heard of the other one.

Could it be RORG ?

If so,

Royal Ordnance Factory Radway Green, Radway Green, UK

Most RORG brass is from Radway green that was extreemly available just a few years ago.  Good ammo and good brass for loading.  The link below is a reliable source for stamps.

The number on the brass is the year of manufacture. ie. LC 99 would be Lake City manufacture made in 1999.

Yep, it's RORG. Now that bobg mentioned Lake City I remember that too. Dang CRS is killin' me.  :'( Can't even remember something from the garage to the computer and it's not over 150 feet.  :-[ Thanks for the information, everyone. I'm going to bookmark the link for the next time I lose my mind.
