tc shell holder
« on: September 15, 2010, 05:36:53 PM »
Anyone use the two cartridge holder that slips over the forearm of your encore and holds the shells parallel to the barrel?  Just wondering if you have used it if you like it or not. Im looking for a cartridge holder for my encore but I don't really like the buttstock holders. Does anyone know of a sling that has built in holders that would work for a 25-06.

I use a sling made by Allen that holds four shell. I use it on a Contender but it should do as well on the heavier Encore. It has a nice, comfortable foam pad. I bought it at Wal Mart a couple of years ago but it isn't available at any of their stores in this area anymore.

Here is a picture of the allen that I use camo and black holds 4 shells this is a G2 7x30 waters but that sling has enough stretch in the shell holder to hold just about anything bigger than a Hornet. If you like the looks then a search on the net should net you one :) :)

Butler Creek makes a neoprene sling with shell holder------I have a few of them. I have used them for many years.
I also have the T/C silicone shell holder that goes on the forend-----It is nice but you have to remove it after daily use and clean the area or you will get rust.
Either option is a good choice--I dislike the butt shell holders also.

I've had it for years and don't remember who makes it or where I got it, but I have one that goes on your wrist. Size adjusts with velcro and the shell holders are elastic.  Really works well for me.  Dale

Thanks for the input guys. I might have to check out those slings. I really like the idea of the forearm holder but I wonder if it would interfere with my hold on the gun or not. Also was wondering if it would put pressure on the barrel enough to make a difference in shot placement or not.
